The following outline represents our process phases at a high level. Different projects require different deliverables, but deviations from this standard approach tend to be minor and logical in each case.

We pride ourselves on making a strong investment in each relationship from the very beginning. Much of the project and solution definition happen before we sign a contract, so that you are certain by the time you commit to the project that Coherent Interactive understands your needs and will build you a solution that meets your expectations.

Discovery

Definition of needs. Our project team works with you to clarify business needs, drivers, goals and high-level measures of success. This phase might include structured consensus-building within your teams.

High-level environment evaluation. We identify of technical constraints, stakeholders and anticipated commitments and requirements for you and your teams.

Solution definition. During this phase, we create a preliminary sketch of the solution and a definition of the project scope and approach.

Project planning. We author a project vision and practical plan, schedule, assumptions and other planning documents as required.

Design Phase

Functionality Design
Output: Functional specification if needed
Activities: Design of user experience and site functionality

Data Design
Output: Data model if necessary
Activities: Design of database structure and relationships

Visual Design
Output: Visual design composites and a visual style guide
Activities: Exploration of branding and visual elements of look and feel

Content Design
Output: Taxonomy, content inventory, editorial style guide and content strategy
Activities: Organization of the information to be presented and creation of the tools and strategies for future management and scalability of information

Build Phase

Content. We combine the strategies and taxonomies created during design with your brand identity to create clear and engaging content for your site, and to ensure the site content supports your organic search needs.

Application. During this phase, we create the actual application code based on the scope and design agreed upon in earlier phases.

Data. We either build or oversee the creation of the database and its integration with the new application code.

Layout and interface. Coherent writes clean, accessible, standards-based code, to create your user interface.

Testing/Training

Quality assurance testing. Using an iterative process, our project team tests the site/application against the use cases and specs. This process addresses bugs, implementation of functional requirements and usability concerns.

User acceptance testing. Toward the end of the quality assurance testing phase, you are invited to explore and test your new site. During this time, you log bugs and concerns for Coherent Interactive to address during the final testing and development.

Training/documentation. We create documentation and training programs to help your teams use and manage the site.

Deployment

Deployment planning. Coherent Interactive works with your team to create a deployment plan and data migration strategy that support requirements while minimizing risks.

Deployment or deployment support. When it is time to "go live," the Coherent Interactive team either manages the process or supports your team with the transition and post-launch testing and support.

Maintenance

Warranty period. Every project includes a warranty period with support for bug fixes and quick responses to critical issues without additional expense. The warranty period is designed to ensure that you are satisfied with the work and that the site or application is as stable as possible.

Maintenance. You can establish a maintenance relationship with Coherent Interactive to get support for requests or small projects, to be completed and billed based on an established hourly rate.
