John Purcell - President
John brings over 20 years of software and Web industry experience to Coherent Interactive. His 14 years at Microsoft include 10 in management. He worked for nine years with the Microsoft Project product team, he is an expert in project management methodologies and he has conducted workshops across the country on the management of complex projects. John led the development of Microsoft Project's award-winning Help systems twice. At Microsoft, John was recognized and frequently tapped for his skills in budget and resource planning, facilitating post-project analyses and supervising hiring processes.
He has significant experience with issues surrounding globalization of information, reorganization and acquisitions management, editorial processes, search technologies and XML content management. His areas of expertise also include team management, software and Web user experience design, business strategy and business development and Web process management.
Neicole Crepeau - UX, Social Media
Neicole has over 25 years in the technology industry, in a variety of roles ranging from customer support to product management. She spent fifteen years doing technical writing, including manuals and online help for small products and large ones, such as Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office. She then moved on to doing work focused on usability and design. She holds a certificate in User-Centered Design and one in Multi-Media Production and Development from the University of Washington. She has designed Web sites, defined and conducted numerous usability tests, and designed or co-designed interface elements for Microsoft Office products, customer Web sites, and products for small-business clients. Most recently, Neicole has entered the arena of search engine optimization and social media marketing. She has done SEO work for several sites to bring them up in search engine rankings. She's a regular blogger, has created Facebook fan pages, and uses Twitter to market the IT DevWorks product TweetPackage.com.
Phil Weber - Information Architect
Philip Weber is an expert in user experience strategy and design. He has worked on large scale web sites, mobile applications and video games for clients including Microsoft, The Metropolitan Opera, AOL, Avanade, NAVTEQ, Nintendo, Wizards of the Coast, Pokemon and VH1. Philip's process includes research, strategic planning, interaction design, art direction and user testing. In 2008 Philip cofounded a design studio called Highlighter. He served as director of user experience for a number of e-commerce projects. He recently did work for NAVTEQ. He has been working on web based map applications as well as phone and tablet projects for iOS, Android and Blackberry. Phil has a BA in Design from Western Washington University.
Minna Jyvala - Designer
Minna enjoys creating innovative and original visual concepts and user friendly Web sites. She holds a Masters in New Media from Helsinki University of Art and Design in Finland and has over 10 years of experience executing design projects for small, mid-tier and multi-national organizations. Minna's unique skill set enables her to be deeply involved with the creative process while also playing a key role on the technology side given her training and project experience.
Minna began her career at Nokia Research Center, creating a Web site for the first Finnish interactive TV trial, called Broadband Village. Soon after, she moved to London to create MTV Europe's first online interactive TV channel, called M2 Europe. Since that time, Minna has delivered dozens of innovative sites and visual solutions while working at various interactive agencies in London and the United States and as a freelancer. She is passionate about using the full extent of her versatile skills and experience to create highly usable and visually appealing design solutions while constantly looking for ways to build on her knowledge.
Jan Bultmann - Writer/Editor
In 23 years of writing and editing, Jan has created lively and engaging content addressed to aircraft pilots, thespians, software users, boating enthusiasts, investors, poets, environmental activists, hydroplane racers, psychologists, girl scouts, critical race theorists, faith-based volunteers, epidemiologists, yoga teachers, and the general public.
She has worked on dailies, weeklies, monthlies, and quarterlies; on books and blogs; on Web sites and video scripts and UI text strings.
Jan specializes in creating content that is easy on the reader, cost-effective to localize, easy to reuse, clear and comprehensible for readers of English as a second language, and easy to find, scan, and use on the Web.
